5 Steps to Prepare Your Site for a Hydrovac Truck

To ensure a smooth and efficient hydrovac service, a little preparation goes a long way. Here are five key steps to prepare your site before our truck arrives.

1. Obtain Necessary Permits

Ensure you have all required municipal or provincial permits for excavation. This is the client's responsibility and prevents costly delays.

2. Mark Your Utilities

Before we arrive, contact your local utility locating service (e.g., 'Click Before You Dig') to have all public utilities marked. For private lines (like sprinkler systems or power to a shed), you may need to hire a private locator.

3. Clear Access Path

Our hydrovac trucks are large vehicles. Please ensure there is a clear, stable path for the truck to access the work area. This includes removing any vehicles, equipment, or materials that might be in the way.

4. Identify a Water Source

Hydrovacs use a significant amount of water. Please identify a nearby fire hydrant or other suitable water source that we are permitted to use. We will handle the necessary connections.

5. Designate a Debris Disposal Area

Decide where the excavated material (slurry) should be disposed of. We can dump it on-site in a designated area or haul it away for off-site disposal (this may incur additional costs).

By following these steps, you help us get to work faster and complete your project on time and on budget.
